Safety & trust

Pulsation supervision is relational supervision space, we are in relationship to each other, we seek to be in good contact, right brain to right brain we synchronize, increasing compassion and empathy, understanding. Trust is built that allows for exploration and curiosity about what is happening beneath ego and defence, beyond left brain, with what is surface and conscious. Through trust and relationship exploration of the sense of internal safety and trust of yourself, the relationship you have with yourself as well as external support that is possible to receive and allow in  influences that allow for is deepen.

Safety and trust look and feel are embodied differently for everyone. what we need to build a sense of this, in our relationships, in the therapeutic spaces we offer to another to feel safe will look different in aspects and at it root carry the same value system and morality held within.

There are basic fundamental ways that our practices can become safer, with transparency of working and communication, with placing the thrivingness of our clients/patients aliveness at the heart and center of all that takes place, especially when they are unable to make those calls for themselves. That might be making sure that any touch given is therapeutic and for the healing of our clients/patients. That we are more conscious and aware of the tracking of what is happening for ourselves in our own bodies whilst simultaneously tracking what is happening for our clients/patents, and being responsive to that information. Empowering our patients/clients sense of self, embodiment and awareness, so that they gain valuable insight that they can carry forward as resource and choice into their lives.

By building relationships that are consistent and in providing trusting spaces that are free from judgement for our clients/patients to explore. By maintaining trusting and therapeutic and ethical boundaries.

Creating safety means a commitment to processing ones own trauma and becoming a safe bodies for other bodies to heal with. Trauma held within the practitioners/therapists/facilitators body interferes with the capacity to feel and be presently available to our clients/patients.

We can create healthier, safer therapeutic spaces by having regular supervision, supervision that allows for reflection and growth. Supervision is an established practice in psychotherapy and counselling and has become more available with awareness being created around the benefits and importance of supervision in all healing and caring professions.

Pulsation supervision is part of ensuring that within supervision there is more to choice available for health practitioners and therapists a movement away from supervision being a tick box exercise, much like work and Continual practitioner development can have the habit of being. Pulsation supervision is alive and responsive to the needs and times we live in. A supervision that moves away from the the imbalance of left brain relating in a left brain dominant culture, to what is alive and awake and able to be responded to. Supervision that invites not just a supressing of the nervous system into just parasympathetic ways of being, but with working with a responsive nervous system, that is appropriate to what the reality of our life and experiences are, now more than ever there is a need to action and activate and not just subdue. In Chinese medicine we would not look to continue a pattern of disharmony, but seek to rebalance. Pulsation supervision is part of the rebalance and in response to a left brain culture. Pulsation supervision  creates safer practice by bringing more awareness to the invisible, the less seen, the less privileged, less conscious parts of supervision and therapeutic spaces.

Pulsation supervision is for therapists/practitioners and facilitators from healing modalities and clinical domains were relational and emotional processing is paramount, for sustainable practice, practitioner/therapist wellbeing and clinical safe and ethical practice.

There are still many debates regarding the  definition of supervision, its purpose, what it should include and its place.

Pulsation supervision is a new type of supervision with a different focus it sets out to be inclusive in creating equitable, supportive environments by valuing diverse backgrounds, reducing power imbalances, and fostering mutual learning, moving beyond simple skill transfer to ensure everyone feels respected, and belongs. Key elements of pulsation supervision include culturally sensitive communication, recognizing varied experiences.

Core Principles of pulsation supervision are

Ensuring everyone, especially from underrepresented groups, can access supervision.
